  • What type of wood is used to make Tree Blocks’ toys?
Our USA made barked blocks are currently produced from Ash, a common USA hardwood. Sadly, in recent years, an invasive bug called the Ash Tree Borer has been destroying Ash trees, so we are considering other sources for the future. We will continue to use reclaimed and sustainable sources. Our Vietnam toys are made from Rubber and Acacia.
  • How do I care for my Tree Blocks toy?
Wood, once cut, doesn’t like damp, so store your Tree Blocks toys in a dry and airy place. Clean your toy occasionally using a damp (well wrung) cloth. Leave to dry fully. The toys can be played with outside but should not be left outside in damp or rainy conditions.
  • What age range are Tree Blocks toys suitable for?
Tree Blocks’ toys are ideal for age ranges 3-9 yrs. They can be played with solo or in groups. The toys are designed to encourage learning, curiosity in nature and social interaction. Our “Baby Blocks” are designed with younger children in mind, one year and above.
  • My tree house has a broken part, what can I do?
Get in touch with us as soon as possible so we can arrange to ship a replacement part or replacement toy if necessary. Email us at elves@treeblocks.com or call us during business hours Pacific Standard Time on 800-873-4960.
  • Does Treeblocks LLC care about the environment?
The wood we use comes from reclaimed and sustainable sources. In the USA the blocks are made by an Amish community whose workshop is off the grid. We work closely with our factory in Vietnam where the workers are treated fairly and are well paid.
  • Are Tree Blocks made in the USA?
The barked blocks are made in Wisconsin, USA. Our other toys are made in Vietnam. The bark slips off the local wood much more easily than the USA hardwoods. Our bark-less blocks have a smooth finish but have all the play and learning value of our USA made barked blocks.
  • Are Tree Blocks safe?
Tree Blocks’ toys are tested for the appropriate age ranges. It is important, however, that you check your toy regularly for damage or any signs of wear and tear. Wood is a natural product and, just like in nature, can swell and contract as the humidity changes giving rise to possible cracks and loose bark, or creating rough patches or sharp points/splinters. A light sanding will take care of these issues and with care, the toys can last many generations.
  • How can Tree Blocks be used to teach math?
Tree Blocks are “unit blocks” cut precisely to heights of 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10cm. They can be combined with other building toys. As children handle, compare and build with these blocks, they develop better understand of math concepts, setting them up for success in school. The Tree Blocks “Math Kit” includes a standing ruler, dice and an activity deck in 3 skill levels. It conforms to NCTM standards for cognitive and skills development.
